Romeo is an impulsive character who lets his emotions dictate his actions. An example of this is when Tybalt kills Romeos friend Mercutio then Romeo states “and fire-ey’d fury be my conduct now!” then he goes on to kill Tybalt while being blinded by anger.

Juliet hints the end of the play without knowing it. After Romeo and Juliet have one last night together she says to Romeo”Methinks I see thee, now thou art below, as one dead at the bottom of a tomb: either my eyesight fails, or thou look’st pale.” which at the end of the play Romeo does end up in a tomb, and we know this because it says in the prologue that he will die.

Shakespeare uses a ship metaphor to communicate the idea of fate being in charge of Romeo’s life. Before Romeo and his friends go to the ball at Capulets house Romeo says “He that hath the steerage of my course direct my sail!” Romeo is referring to whoever or whatever is controlling his life to choose the right path for him.

Friar Lawrence warns Romeo that acting quickly in regards to marrying Juliet could have negative consequences. “
